History

In 1816, Denis Bornier purchased the Moulin de Messigny and founded “Maison Bornier”, that continues to use the savoir-faire and traditional recipes handed down over generations y mustard makers.

In 1855, 1858 and 1865, “Maison Bornier” won two gold medals during Dijon and Paris Food fairs.

In 1945, “Maison Bornier” which acted on a national scale from then on, decided to export their products.

In 1971, the family business was renamed Européenne de Condiments (EdC) and moved to the south of Dijon, to Couchey, a few miles away from the prestigious vineyard of Gevrey-Chambertin. This same year coincides with the beginning of a growth period: the company’s volumes have increased from 2,500 tons to 25,000 tons in 30 years.

In 1986, so that they could increase their international development, EdC partnered with the German family-owned business “Kühne”, which acquired interests in the capital.

In 1992, EdC took over Ducros company’s mustard business unit, based in Beaune.

In 2001, Kühne group acquired a majority interest in EdC to boost future developments.
